Readers Respond: Which Baby Travel Products Go With You On Every Trip?

By , About.com Guide

Many parents are hesitant to travel with baby because they think they'll need to take along all of baby's heavy gear for each vacation. It's possible to travel without most of your baby products, though, or to use specialized baby travel products to make your trip much more convenient. So, traveling families, share your tips! Which baby travel products are the best? Are there baby items you take with you on every trip because they make travel with little ones so much easier? Share Your Favorites

Graco Spree Baby Travel System

Included is the stroller, car seat and car seat base. The stroller is easy to set up and fold down and the car seat exceeds safety standards.

Long flights

SkyRest Child+ travel pillow allows your kid to stretch out and play or sleep on a flight instead of lying all over you. Ive travelled to New Zealand with my 2 Kids and this pillow helps us all get some rest.

Solaroo Sun Sheet

The Solaroo Sun sheet I can just velcro to my stroller instead of using sun block on my baby every time I go somewhere, it is 98% UV blocking. It packs tight in my diaper bag, and I can place it over my shoulder when breastfeeding to avoid the sun. I also tie it to my baby bjorn when I go for walks. My sister uses it on her 2 year old son to throw over his legs instead of applying sun block all summer long.

A Square of Cloth to Shade the Baby

I recently traveled by plane, and a mother with a small baby was sitting across the aisle from me. She had a large square of cloth, probably a kerchief or scarf, that she carried with her. Shortly after take-off, she lay her baby on her lap, and attached the cloth to the tray in front of her, making a little awning for the baby. The baby was able to sleep through the changing lights in the cabin at mealtimes, or passengers turning on their reading lamps. I thought it was a cheap and fantastic idea to help keep a baby calm on a flight.

Best baby buys for travel

Trunki items are all a must have! I have the ride on suitcase and boostapak. The boostapak is ingenious, safe and so easy to travel with coverting from a backpack into a car booser seat. My 2 year old loves the trunki case as he gets to sit on it and I get to brag him around the airport when his legs have had enough and falls into hand luggage catagory. I also have the Babyjogger mini city which is so light, easy to fold and stores flat. All of these items have been lugged on flights to Africa, Greece, Switzerland, around the UK and still going strong

U need a TOTEaTOT!

We have found the motherload! On our last trip home to the east coast, we borrowed a TOTEATOT from our friend. Where has it been all my life? Well, my life with kids. We always bring our kids' car seats with us, and now that we have 3 kids, well, you know the rest...we couldn't carry it all. This TOTEATOT connected one of our rolling suitcases to one of my kid's car seats, all the while, having her sitting in the car seat! Can you say, happiness? We only wished we had another one. For our next trip we're going with two! And the best part, we could bring more onto the plane, and have less checked luggage...and more $ in our pockets without baggage fees!

travel tote

This travel tote slides over the top of you roller luggage or car seat carrier system and will keep your bottle upright and somewhat insulated. It has a bag for diapers, et al. We don't go without it! Www.gojoestore.com

Hi, this solved our air traveling problems, but it is only good for age 3 years and older children. See the Easycarseat inflatable car seat.

Helpful Airplane Products

We couldn't travel without our airplane seatback orgainzer and cover from GoGo Mumma! The cover clips to everything and the organizer meant we didn't have to keep getting up to get things from the overhead area. You can get them at www.gogomumma.com

Zoobies

As owners of a baby equipment rental company in Montreal, Canada, we are always looking out for the latest baby travel products. We love Zoobies! These are cute little stuffed animals that neatly store a blanket inside. Our kids love to cuddle with them! They are excellent for airplane travel, car trips and for taking walks with the stroller. The Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray is another must have for long car trips. We never travel without ours.

Best Products

Hi, we are a baby equipment rental company in Canada and we LOVE the various models of the Baby Jogger strollers. The fold up is amazing and the strollers are very light and compact yet they come with all the necessary components.

Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray

This travel tray is great for long trips in the car. We used it recently during a 6 hour car ride. My daughter played with all of her little dolls on the tray and didn't have the problem with toys falling on the floor every 5 minutes! It is great for snack time too! We bought our online in Canada.

Best baby travel gear

The Baby Bjorn travel crib is the best travel product ever! It only weighs like 12 lbs and opens and closes so easily/quickly and my son actually liked sleeping in it. This crib was more pricey than the other pack and play type cribs but definitely worth the money.
