Trunki Toddler Luggage

Trunki suitcases are child-sized so toddlers can pull their own carry-on bag through the airport. When your little one gets tired, this luggage doubles as a ride-on toy!

The Bottom Line

Trunki is a child-sized suitcase with wheels so that toddlers can ride on it when they get tired during the long walk from gate to gate in the airport. When they aren't riding, little ones can easily pull the lightweight Trunki suitcase with the pull-strap. Trunki luggage is rugged, fun and solves some common travel problems for families.

Guide Review - Trunki Suitcase Review

Once kids get into the toddler and preschool phase, they like to have their own things. Carrying one's own suitcase through the airport becomes significantly less exciting when the child realizes how difficult and tiring that task can be! Trunki, a new child-sized suitcase, makes it easy for toddlers and preschoolers to tote their own carry-on luggage through the airport. When your little one gets tired, Trunki becomes a little ride-on toy that can be pulled along by a parent to give little legs a rest.

One of the things I've found about children's luggage is that it is usually poorly made, too big for little children to manage or prohibitively expensive. Trunki answers all of those complaints quite well. The sturdy suitcase is made with the same durable materials as adult suitcases, so it's built to last. Trunki is recommended for carry-on luggage only, though, so it's not a suitcase you'd want to send as checked baggage. The size is perfect for young children. Trunki measures about 18x8x12 inches, and weighs less than 4 pounds when empty. The suitcases are available in pink or blue and have little "horns" for handles on the front. Trunki sells for $30-$40.

The pull strap is easy to use and the wheels roll smoothly on tile and low-pile carpets. More than one child can actually ride on Trunki, too. The company says the suitcases can hold over 100 lbs. when used as a ride-on!

One of Trunki's biggest downfalls as carry-on baggage is that there are no outside pockets or compartments to keep items that need to be grabbed quickly. You have to open the whole suitcase to get to the contents.

Despite the drawbacks, having a suitcase that your young child can manage is a big plus for Trunki. The ability to let your child ride the suitcase may make your airline travel much easier, and certainly more fun for the child.

Great idea; poor execution, Member nikiofware

I purchased this because we travel often & my little one fell in love with it. We didn't even get it home before one of the latches fell off. While trying to compare it to the other latch, it too fell off. Apparently this is a common problem as the product includes directions on how to fix. However, even by following instructions, the latch did not work properly afterward. Then, while giving a test run at home, one of the wheels fell off. To my disappointment, I returned the suitcase to the store the very next day. As I said, this is a marvelous idea, but made very cheaply. I was surprised by the quality since it carries the Melissa & Doug name. Don't waste your money.
