The StrollAway concept is pretty great for people who are short on space. It's a metal stroller hanger that fits over almost any door, and has adjustable arms that the stroller handles, or some part of the stroller frame can fit over. This way you don't have to leave your stroller set up, taking up valuable space, or try to prop it up somewhere folded (which is how I ended up with a dent in my guest room wall, by the way). It's a compact solution to a storage problem, and it doesn't require you to drill any holes in walls or doors. Not too shabby!

What I Like About StrollAway

StrollAway can be used on almost any door, and it's not a permanent fixture. You can move it around wherever you need it, easily. It's lightweight but pretty sturdy. I don't think you'd be able to break StrollAway without actually trying. I wondered whether it would put too much strain on a lightweight door, but it really didn't seem to, even with a standard stroller hanging on it.

The adjustable arms work well. You just push up to swing them around to where you need them and then they lock into place. The arms do seem to accommodate a wide range of stroller handles. I tried several of the strollers I had on hand for review, and all of them could be stored with StrollAway, including one with straight grip handles (the Simmons Onyx) that I didn't think would work.

You can hang StrollAway on either side of a door, and the arms can swing all the way around. I can't imagine what kind of door you'd have that you'd be able to have the arms facing inward, but StrollAway is certainly made to work in almost any configuration possible! You can also put the arms flat to store StrollAway flush against the door or easily in a drawer.

For renters, the ability to hang up the stroller without having to drill any holes is very nice. Even if you don't rent, the sleek design does accomplish stroller storage really well if you have a door that can be dedicated to the task.

What I Don't Like About StrollAway

StrollAway came with a spacer bar that is supposed to help it fit more door sizes. In my house, the spacer made it impossible to close doors when StrollAway was hanging on the door. I preferred StrollAway to fit loosely on the door, and be able to close the door, than to have it fit and not be able to close the door. The spacer is a nice idea, but it won't work for everyone. Thankfully it's removable with a screwdriver.

If you use StrollAway on a bedroom door with a stroller that is anything more than a compact umbrella version, you may not be able to open the door very far to get through. In my guest room, with the Simmons Onyx on the StrollAway, I could only open the door about halfway. A closet door that opens outward, if you have one, would certainly be a better bet for using StrollAway.

You could make your stroller slimmer by removing the wheels or bassinet or other attachments, if you have to use StrollAway on a door you need to walk through. This creates some inconvenience, depending on your stroller. If you want to be able to just pull your stroller down from the door and go, without re-attaching the wheels and such, it could be a hassle.

StrollAway is a little expensive for an over-the-door hanger at about $40.

Overall, though, StrollAway is a nice idea and a well-made product. If you're in need of a stroller storage solution and have a door you can use for it, StrollAway may be helpful to you.
