Guide Review - Fisher Price Baby Papasan
Designed for babies who cannot sit up unassisted, the Baby Papasan would be a wonderful gift for expectant parents. This seat does not bounce like many infant chairs, but the vibrations may prove even more soothing than bouncing, and some parents feel that the Baby Papasan, with it's sturdy frame and non-skid feet, is more stable and safe than some inexpensive bouncers.
My sister-in-law used the Baby Papasan with my nephew, who was quite fussy as an infant and needed a seat with vibration to soothe him to sleep. The Baby Papasan worked for him when other bouncers or swings did not.
On the flip side, I have a niece who needed a swinging or bouncing motion to soothe her, so she was never very happy in the Baby Papasan. It's hard to know what your baby will respond to best without trying a few things first. For what the Baby Papasan does, it does it well.
A few parents complain about the angle of recline for this seat, while others praise the seat's positioning, saying it's perfect for babies with reflux who must remain semi-upright after eating or during naps. The seat's angle and lack of a toy bar mean babies will have a clear view of any available entertainment, whether it be the television or mom cooking dinner.
You can set the vibrations and music separately or use both features together. The headrest is adjustable to some extent, though parents of taller babies may find that the headrest hits their baby in the wrong place after the first few months. Overall, I found the Baby Papasan to be a high-quality product that lives up to the Fisher-Price name.
