Montana Child Safety Seat and Seat Belt Laws

Montana state law requires children under age 6 and weighing less than 60 pounds to ride in a federally approved car seat or booster seat that is properly installed and used. The law in Montana further requires that all other people in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt if they are not required to be in a car seat.
