You don't have to tie the CozyWedge onto the crib in a million places like other bumpers (there are just 6 ties), and it won't slide down, either. The foam is like pool noodle foam, and the slipcovers come in eight organic cotton solid colors and four cotton prints. These slipcovers are machine washable, and look fine just out of the dryer if you're not too picky. For those of you who love crisp corners, a little ironing will be in order.
When it's time to change the sheets in the crib, CozyWedge doesn't present too much hassle. You just have to untie one side and flip it out of the way until you're finished.
While you'll still want to watch your baby's height and climbing ability closely, the CozyWedge presents far fewer opportunities for toeholds than taller bumpers. You should still put the crib mattress on the lowest setting when baby can pull up and stand, and you may still want to consider taking CozyWedge out of the crib then like a traditional bumper, but if you leave it in, the low profile won't give baby much of a boost.
If you're looking for a traditional crib bumper alternative, the CozyWedge is probably the best available. Remember, though, that bumpers aren't actually necessary. Babies rarely fling themselves against the crib hard enough to get hurt. CozyWedge may offer some peace of mind to tired parents, though, and for that, it's worth the cost.
