Feb. 19, 2009 - Button eyes that can detach and pose a choking hazard have prompted the recall of 35,500 Old Navy stuffed toys in the U.S. and 5,400 toys in Canada. Included in the recall are Brown Plaid Creature (Stubby Stuberson), 612756; Pink Striped Dove, 600571; Grey Dog, 600572; Hot Pink Creature (Lucy Toothy), 612800; White Dog (Dr. Poopsie), 612738; Brown Penguin, 612672; Light Pink Rabbit, 612671; Brown Reindeer, 612728; and Dark Pink Rabbit (Honey O’Bunny), 612806. The style number is on a white label sewn into the side seam. Stop using the toys and return them to any Old Navy store for a refund. If you purchased the toy online, call 866-580-9930 for refund information. If you return the recalled toy by July 1, 2009, you will also receive a $5 coupon towards future Old Navy purchases.
CBB Group Toys
Feb. 25, 2009 - About 39,000 toys from CBB Group are recalled. The fishing games, baby rattles and pull-a-long cars contain small parts, which pose a choking hazard. The surface paint on the mini pull back cars and bubble guns contains lead. Model numbers, UPC codes and photos can be found by clicking the headline link. These toys were sold at dollar stores and toy stores for $1-$5. Stop using the toys and return them to the store where purchased for a refund.
Evenflo Triple Fun Exersaucers
Feb. 17, 2009 - Evenflo has recalled more than 200,000 Exersaucer Triple Fun activity centers because, when it is used as an activity table, the cap on one end can fall off, posing a fall hazard. Ten injuries have been reported. Only Exersaucer Triple Fun activity centers made between Oct. 2006 and Dec. 2008, with model number 6231711, are recalled. Stop using the item as a Stage 3 activity table (it can still be used in Stages 1 & 2) and call 800-233-5921 or visit exersaucertriplefun.com for a replacement end cap.
Disney Tool Sets
Feb. 12, 2009 - About 20,000 Handy Manny toy tool sets are recalled because they contain eyes that can separate, posing a choking hazard. The 8-piece toy set includes tool box, hammer, saw, pliers, wrench, tape measure and 2 screwdrivers. Return the toys to a Disney store for a refund.
Hill Hooded Sweatshirts
Feb. 12, 2009 - The strangulation death of a 3 year old boy prompted the recall of 300,000 Hill hooded sweatshirts because the drawstring at the hood can be caught on things and strangle a child. The boy who died became entangled on playground equipment. Hill Kid Pullover Sweatshirt and Hill Kid Zipper with Hood are included. Remove the drawstring from the hood to remove the hazard, or you can return the sweatshirt to the store where purchased or to Hill for a refund. Call 877-322-8760.
Land of Nod Bunk Beds
Feb. 5, 2009 - About 750 Land of Nod Cottage bunk beds are recalled because when screws are missing from the upper bunk's guardrails, the vertical slats can detach, allowing a child to fall while getting in or out of the bunk bed. Model numbers 236-519 and 188-174 in white finish and 459-410 and 172-596 in pine/honey finish are affected. Model numbers are on stickers inside the lower bunk headboard. Check to see that all screws that attach the guardrails have been installed. If they have not been installed, stop using the beds as bunk beds immediately and call 800-933-9904 to receive free replacements screws.
Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gates
Feb. 4, 2009 - About 100,000 Safety 1st SmartLight stair gates are recalled because the hinges that hold the stair gate in place can break, posing a fall hazard if the gate is placed at the top of stairs. Only gates with model number 42111 made before Dec. 31, 2007 are affected. The model number is found on a sticker under the handle panel, and the date code is printed below the handle with an arrow for the month and the year in the center. Construction Building Sets
Jan. 29, 2009 - About 3,000 136-piece construction building sets sold at home centers, farm stores and hardware stores are recalled because the surface paints contain lead. The sets include various construction equipment, vehicles, buildings and roads and sold for about $20. Stop using the toys and call 800-220-2390 for a refund.
Land of Nod Children's Canopies
Jan. 28, 2009 - About 2,400 Home Sweet Playhome canopies are recalled because a child can get his or her head stuck in the canopy's window openings, posing an entrapment or strangulation hazard. Only Home Sweet Playhome canopies sold before Oct. 2005 are included. Call 800-933-9904 to receive a replacement canopy and a $15 gift card.
Infantino Rattles
Jan. 15, 2009 - More than 130,000 Infantino Lion and Lamb Grabby Rattles are recalled because the tail section can detach, posing a choking hazard. This is an expansion of an earlier recall where 20,000 Infantino rattles were recalled in March 2008. Rattles without tails and those with production codes 0108 and 0508 are not recalled. The production code is printed behind the ear in dial format with the year in the center and a clock hand that points to the month of manufacture. Stop using the rattles and call 888-808-3111 for a replacement rattle or product of equal value.
Fisher Price Rainforest Portable Play Yards
Jan. 15, 2009 - About 200,000 Fisher Price Rainforest Portable Play Yards made by Simplicity / SFCA are recalled because one or more rails can unexpectedly collapse, posing a fall or entrapment hazard. SFCA has not responded to complaints or recall requests, so Fisher Price is assisting customers with the process. More than 1,000 incidents of the rails collapsing were reported, including many minor injuries, and five reports of more serious injuries. Model numbers of the affected play yards are 5310 RNF, 5310RNFC, and 5310RNFW, and can be found on a sticker on one of the play yard legs.
