Reflections of Magic Mirrors
July 24, 2009 - About 600 Reflections of Magic mirrors sold via Bradford Exchange are recalled because the metal plate used for hanging the mirrors can detach, allowing the mirror to fall, posing a risk of lacerations or impact injuries. The oval mirrors are decorated with images of animated characters. Stop using the mirrors and call 866-903-2755 for a refund.

LeapFrog Plush Toys
July 23, 2009 - About 3,700 My Pal Scout plush toy dogs are recalled because the decals on the paws can come off, posing a choking hazard. When you press on the paw decals, the dog plays songs, speaks or barks. Toys with embroidered paws are not included in the recall. Stop using the toy and call 800-701-5327 to exchange it for one with embroidered paws.

Buster Brown Clog Shoes
July 21, 2009 - About 1.4 million pairs of Buster Brown water clog shoes are recalled because the decorative wheels can detach, posing a choking hazard. The shoes have a Cars, Barbie, Transformers Animated or Buster Brown & Co label inside the shoe, and all are made to resemble a car. Click the headline link for the extensive list of model numbers and pictures. Stop using the shoes and return them to the store where purchased for a refund. Call 888-869-1044 for more info.

Gel-Filled Teethers
July 18, 2009 - FDA is urging consumers to stop using some Nuby, Playskool and Cottontails gel-filled baby teethers because the gel may contain Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus circulans bacteria. While these bacteria don't generally make adults sick, babies or those with compromised immune systems can end up with vomiting and other stomach ailments if they ingest the gel. Click the headline link to see a list of model numbers for each brand. Return the teethers to the store where purchased for a refund. Call 800-256-2399 for more info.

Evenflo Toy Telephones
July 16, 2009 - About 25,000 Evenflo Switch-A-Roo toy telephones are recalled because a mirror decal can peel off, posing a choking hazard. The toy model number is 6391911. To remove the hazard, peel off the mirror decal and throw it away. Call 800-233-5921 for more info.

DesignWare Sports Balls
July 9, 2009 - About 90,000 American Greetings sports balls are recalled because the surface coatings contain lead. These DesignWare sports balls were sold in packages of four as party favors. The model number is SPBL 1821. Take the sports balls away from children and call 800-777-4891 for a replacement product.

Kolcraft Play Yards
July 8, 2009 - About 1 million Kolcraft play yards are recalled because the side rail can fail to latch properly and can unlatch when a child leans against it, posing a fall hazard. Kolcraft has had nearly 350 reports of the play yard sides collapsing, and more than 20 injuries have been reported. The recall includes Kolcraft brand play yards, but also some play yards manufactured by Kolcraft under Carter's, Sesame Street, Jeep, Eric Carle, Care Bears and Contours labels. Some of the play yards have bassinets, parent organizers, electronics, mobiles or changing tables. Click the headline link for the extensive list of model numbers and photos. The model number is found on a play yard foot on a white sticker. Stop using the play yard and call 866-594-4208 for a repair kit.

Pool Floats
July 2, 2009 - About 4 million Aqua-Leisure Inflatable Baby Floats are recalled because the leg straps in the seat portion of the float can tear, allowing the child to fall through. These floats came in a variety of styles and were sold from Dec. 2002 through June 2009. A date code between 08/02 and 07/08 is molded on the valve of recalled floats. If the float has "NP" molded on the valve, it is not recalled. To see pictures of the recalled floats, click the headline link. Call 866-807-3998 for a refund.

Simplicity Drop-Side Cribs
July 2, 2009 - About 400,000 Simplicity drop-side cribs are recalled because the plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop-side to detach. When the drop-side detaches, it creates a space between the crib mattress and the drop side. A child can become entrapped and suffocate in the gap. CPSC reports that one 8-month-old child died after being entrapped when the plastic drop-side hardware broke. CPSC is also aware of 25 other incidents where the drop sides detached. All Simplicity cribs with a flexible plastic tab at the top of the lower tracks are recalled. Model numbers include, but may not be limited to, 8050, 8325, 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8765, 8778, 8810, and 8994, 8995, 8996. Stop using the cribs and return them to the place of purchase for a refund, replacement or store credit.

Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson Drop-Side Cribs
June 9, 2009 - LaJobi Inc. has recalled about 2,900 Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson drop-side cribs because the lower spring pins on the headboard and footboard can pop out of their tracks, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. This can create a gap between the drop side and the mattress, which poses an entrapment or suffocation hazard, and could allow a child to fall from the crib. Out of 33 reports of drop-side detachments due to spring pin failure, two children were entrapped but freed by caregivers, and one fell from the crib. One child suffered bruises. Only wood Pinehurst and Hudson cribs with metal mattress supports and date codes from Dec. 2006 through Aug. 2007 are recalled. The date code can be found on a label on the headboard or footboard. Stop using the cribs and call 866-688-9009 to arrange for a technician to do an in-home installation of the retrofit hardware kit.
