The pendants and bangles are made from silicone and come in a variety of colors and patterns. Some of the patterns are made to look like gemstones. Some of the patterns mimic real gemstones better than others. I tested the jade green necklace and bracelet, and from a short distance, these pieces actually do look similar to gemstone jewelry.
The silicone used in making Teething Bling jewelry is firm enough for baby to get decent pressure on his or her gums. It is independently lead-tested and is phthalate-free. You can even throw the pendants and bangles in the dishwasher to keep them fresh.
The cords on the pendants are black silk and are reasonably attractive. The clasps are plastic breakaway types. I found it hard to snap the clasp together, but it's not necessary to unsnap it often because the cord is long enough to just slip over my head. The plastic clasp may look a little too childish for fans of upscale jewelry.
When I inspected the teething pendants and bangles up close, I noticed a very slight chemical smell. It wasn't noticeable by others when I wore the jewelry and did not affect the taste of the teethers. There is not a strong taste to the silicone.
If your baby is chewing on your jewelry already, or you never seem to have a teether on hand when you need it, Teething Bling jewelry might be useful for you. It would definitely make a fun, unusual baby shower gift!
