Description
Guide Review - The Picture Book Dictionary - English-Spanish EditionThe Picture Book Dictionary English-Spanish Edition was wonderfully designed to accomodate families with children of a variety of ages. Experts agree that early childhood is the perfect time to begin teaching children new languages due to the unique ability of babies and children to pick up accents and absorb language skills. Parents can easily start reading the English and Spanish words in The Picture Book Dictionary to their infant and showing small babies the bright pictures to lay a foundation for spoken words later on. Toddlers and young children will love picking out familiar objects in the drawings and learning to pronounce their favorite words in another language. Children through elementary school age can challenge themselves with a wide variety of words and sentences in English and Spanish. The Picture Book Dictionary features 3,000 words, alphabetized in English, and the entries include the Spanish word, an illustration, and a sentence using the word in both English and Spanish. There are a few full page drawings of fruits, shapes and animals in The Picture Book Dictionary, too. The drawings are wonderful, but I wish the full page illustrations included the Spanish words along with the English, as is done in the rest of the book. It's also important to note that this book doesn't have a pronunciation guide for parents or children, so non-native speakers of either language should brush up on their pronunciation elsewhere to be sure kids learn the proper sounds. |
