The Bottom Line

If you like the convenience of a backpack as a diaper bag, the Baby Sherpa diaper backpack may be your best option. Comfortable and durable, Baby Sherpa diaper backpacks are perfect for active families and parents who want to use a diaper bag for more than one child.

Guide Review - Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack

I tested Baby Sherpa diaper backpacks on an international trip with four adults and four children in our party. By the end of the trip, whoever was carrying the Baby Sherpa backpacks was the one carrying everyone's gear, because none of the other travel bags we brought seemed to hold as much while still being comfortable for the wearer.

After 3 weeks of travel in two countries, on 7 different flights, the Baby Sherpa bags still look brand new, despite having been shoved under van seats, being shuffled on dusty boats, and being crammed full of every baby item you can imagine. The durability of these diaper bags is amazing, to say the least.

For about $90, the original Baby Sherpa diaper backpack has a roomy top pocket with an extra-wide opening and two dividers, an accessory zipper pocket, removable water bottle holder, key clips, front bungee cord, cooler compartment, removable insulated bottle pocket, oversized changing pad, lug handle and ergonomic shoulder and sternum straps.

For $85, the Short Haul Sherpa diaper backpack is about 3/4 the size of the original bag, and has nearly all of the same features on a slightly smaller scale. Instead of a bungee on the front, the Short Haul has a clip that can hold a rolled blanket or light coat.

Both diaper backpacks are comfortable to carry and roomy enough for gear for at least one baby. The original Baby Sherpa has enough room for the whole family's travel must-haves, and will be useful beyond the baby stage, too.
