The Snazzy Baby 3-in-1 Combo Carrier is a hip carrier that distributes baby's weight over the parent's shoulder. The gel pad on the shoulder portion of the carrier is very comfortable. I also like that this carrier allows you to wear baby facing you or facing front, unlike some hip carriers that only allow one position.

I carried a 25-lb baby in this carrier for most of a day, and found it to be fairly comfortable. It felt very secure, and was as comfortable as my preferred carrier style, the unpadded ring sling.

I also used the Combo Carrier on a chair as a portable feeding seat. It took me a few minutes to remember how the clips needed to be attached to create the feeding seat, and then to go back to the carrier. However, once it was in feeding seat form, the Combo Carrier performed pretty well. The wipe-clean surface is nice if you're using it for feeding baby. The non-skid bottom is also a great feature of the Combo Carrier when you're using it for shopping carts and chairs.

By changing around a series of clips, you can change the Combo Carrier into a shopping cart seat or a portable feeding chair. A DVD is included to help you figure out how to switch the carrier between functions.

There are no federal safety standards for baby carriers in the U.S. I like that this carrier complies with voluntary ASTM standards.

The 3-in-1 functionality means that you have to deal with switching the buckles and clips around when you want to change from carrier to shopping cart seat or feeding chair. While it's not incredibly difficult, I did have to refer back to the instructions often to make sure I was connecting everything properly.

Getting baby situated comfortably and safely took me a little longer with this baby carrier than the others I've used most. Again, it's not hard, but it might take some getting used to.

You can wear your baby facing you or to the front, which is nice, but some parents might like to be able to try other babywearing positions. If that's you, then other baby carriers might be better choices. You also must wait to use this baby carrier until your baby has head and neck control. If you're planning to use a baby carrier from birth, you'll need to use a different one for a while until you can safely use the Snazzy Baby Combo Carrier.
