If you're a fan of fitted cloth diapers, and you'd like to use them on very small babies, the BubuBebe newborn fitted cloth diaper is a fantastic choice. Designed to fit babies from 5 lbs to 15 lbs, these newborn diapers also have a snap-down notch to accommodate baby's umbilical cord as it heals. BubuBebe newborn fitted diapers are durable, easy to use, very absorbent, and super-cute.

What I Like About BubuBebe Fitted Newborn Cloth Diapers

I knew these diapers were a winner when I received a few from a friend. These diapers were part of her cloth stash from her own kids, and even though they were often-used favorites of hers, they still looked brand new when they arrived on my doorstep. These diapers can definitely withstand daily use, and they'll look great doing it, too.

BubuBebe gives you two options for newborn fitted diapers. You can choose a diaper with a serged edge, or one with a turned and topstitched edge. If sensitive skin runs in your family, you may want to spend a little more for the turned and topstitched edges. Serged edges can be a little more irritating to sensitive newborn skin. However, I've had no problems with the serged edge diapers, in terms of durability or skin issues.

The diaper can be sized perfectly for your baby using the rows of snaps at the top. I really like the extra little snap at the center that allows you to fold down the top into a small notch for a newborn's umbilical cord. There are enough snaps to fit the diaper down to a 5 lb newborn, but you can also expand the diaper for larger babies. The stated weight range is about 5-15 lbs, but I tried the diaper on an 18-month-old who was over 20 lbs, and there was still some growing room. This will depend on the size and shape of your baby, but you may get quite a lot of bang for your buck with this "newborn" diaper!

The newborn fitted diapers come with two extra soakers. Each of the soakers provides three layers of absorbent material. The diaper itself also has three absorbent layers, so you're getting nine layers for absorbing, which I found to be plenty for most situations. BubuBebe also sells a 3-soaker set that you can use with these diapers, and that set makes these diapers work for even the heaviest night-time needs. I had no leaks with these diapers.

Please note, fitted diapers also require the use of a diaper cover, because there's no waterproof outer layer. I like these fitteds with Thirsties diaper covers, but there are plenty of other options that will work just fine.

What I Don't Like About BubuBebe Fitted Newborn Cloth Diapers

At $17 per diaper for the serged-edge types, the cost adds up pretty quickly if you want a full stash of BubuBebes. Remember that you'll also need several diaper covers to go along with them, so the $17 isn't for a complete diaper, it's only the really absorbent inner layers. However, that price is not out of line for a good quality fitted cloth diaper, and for a newborn diaper, the size range is pretty good at this price.

On smaller babies, the diaper plus the soaker layers can get pretty bulky when it's all snapped down. The absorbency can't be beat, but all of that bulk may be hard to fit into some newborn=size diaper covers.

BubuBebe is a small company, so these diapers aren't widely available in stores. You can get them from the BubuBebe online store, and possibly buy used on diaper swap sites. Since it's a small company, popular patterns may sell out very quickly. However, the benefit of the small company is that BubuBebe is known for excellent customer service.
