A potty training DVD can help get your toddler interested in potty training and can help your little one stay motivated once potty training has started. These potty training DVDs appeal to a wide range of toddlers and are upbeat, fun and sometimes silly to hold a toddler's often short attention span. Remember, though, that a potty training DVD may not work for every toddler, and if your toddler just isn't ready, the best thing to do is wait a little while before introducing potty training again.
Potty Power Potty Training DVD
Potty Power introduces potty training concepts through music, like many potty training DVDs. This DVD is for both boys and girls, though some parents feel that it's a bit more appropriate for girls since it has some princess-related stories at the end. The songs and stories are acted out by real toddlers, not cartoons. Your toddler can learn things to do while sitting on the potty (play with a toy, sing a song, read a book), how to wash hands, how to wipe properly and other necessary bathroom skills. I like that this DVD tells kids that potty training isn't something that will happen in a snap - it's a process, so they aren't frustrated when it doesn't happen overnight.
The Potty Tots DVD and Potty Training Kit
The Potty Tots Training Kit comes with a potty training DVD in it. The DVD is an animated version of the story book in the kit. It's pretty simple, but it's cute and a little bit silly, and plenty engaging for toddlers. If your toddler is motivated by music, this isn't the DVD for you, since there are only two music tracks. If you just want a basic potty training story, this is a good one, and it explains the steps to using the potty and washing hands well. Boy and girl versions are available, and a potty training chart and game with cling stickers are included.
No More Diapers Potty Training DVD
If your toddler seems to really like his or her diapers, this DVD about a little bear who loves his diapers might encourage a switch. The bear eventually decides that big kid undies are the way to go. There are lots of silly songs in this DVD, including my personal favorite, "Wonderous Underous Pants." If your toddler likes to sing, this potty training DVD may be a hit.
Go Potty Go! Potty Training DVD
Go Potty Go! helps toddlers understand the physical feelings associated with needing to use the potty, but it's done in a polite, toddler-friendly way. This animated DVD also teaches the all-important front-to-back wiping skills and hand-washing. Lots of music and plenty of variety in what is shown (potty seats, potty chairs, etc) helps almost any toddler feel included when watching Go Potty Go!
I Gotta Go! Potty Training DVD
If you'd like a completely different potty training DVD, I Gotta Go! may be just the one you're looking for. The music is heavily influenced by rap and reggae, and there's very little dialogue at all. Most of the DVD is kids sitting on potties, kids dancing around, or a chimpanzee dancing about or sitting on a potty. You may be thinking it sounds a bit ridiculous, and it is, but remember that toddlers love the absurd, so that dancing chimp could very well be your ticket to diaper free days.
