The Bottom Line

Flippee is a flexible plastic shield that is designed to keep little boys from spraying walls and toilets when they're potty training. If you have a toddler boy, and you're always cleaning up urine from the back of the toilet or the walls behind the toilet, the Flippee toilet shield will probably save you some cleanup time. If your toddler's problem is sprinkling the front of the toilet, however, Flippee won't do much for you.

Pros

  • Attaches to the toilet securely with suction cups.
  • Flips out of the way when not in use.
  • Lip on the edge catches drips so they don't end up on the floor.
  • Keeps back of toilet and walls cleaner.

Cons

  • Doesn't address the common "peeing over the front of the toilet" issue with little boys.

Description

  • Plastic two-position toilet shield with drip lip.
  • Holds to the toilet with suction cups. Can be repositioned.
  • Costs about $25.

Guide Review - Flippee Toilet Shield Review

Moms of boys are always talking about the bathroom cleanup issues they face. Not even just during potty training. It's apparently a lifelong issue for some guys. As a mom to a girl, this is foreign to me, but I'm guessing it must be serious for two reasons. One - a mother of three boys felt the need to invent a product that addresses the fact that boys pee all over the bathroom, and two - when I asked for moms of boys to test this product out, the response was instant and overwhelming.

Flippee is a toilet shield that is flexible plastic and attaches to the toilet with suction cups. When flipped up, it creates a barrier so that little boys have a harder time spraying walls and the back of the toilet. Then it can be flipped down in front of the toilet, out of the way, so the toilet can be used by others. A "drip lip" on the Flippee ensures that any wetness on the shield when it is flipped down doesn't then drip onto the floor. This is a great feature!

For moms whose little boys are peeing on the back of the toilet or onto nearby walls, Flippee seems to work pretty well. Wiping the Flippee down is much easier than cleaning the toilet back. In addition to blocking over-spray, Flippee also creates a smaller target area that can help boys learn to aim a bit better. Some moms may argue that lesson alone makes Flippee worth the cost, particularly when weighed against bathroom cleanings until he goes off to college.

Where Flippee falls short is that for a lot of toddler boys, peeing on the back of the toilet and walls isn't the problem. They're missing and hitting the front of the toilet or aiming a bit short and causing a drip situation on the front end. If that's your child's potty training issue, Flippee can't help. So, it may help some moms reduce their bathroom cleaning time, but Flippee isn't a one-stop answer to all toddler boy bathroom issues.

Not just for the younger boys!, Member Katherine_K

This would have been great while potty training, but I highly recommend it for older boys, too. We leave ours in the up position overnight. Often when my son wakes up in the middle of the night or morning and needs to go to the bathroom he is not fully awake and his aim is terrible. When the stream hits the shield it makes a different sound than when it hits the toilet. (Which is a good thing to help them hear that they're missing...kind of like the rumble strips on the edge of the road!) Every time I hear that sound I am so relieved that I have the Flippee and not a puddle that I have to go and clean up. I love the Flippee and think that all houses with boys need at least one!!
