Guide Review - Dipe N Go Review
Dipe N Go is basically a long, fold-up changing pad with some built in pockets for diapers, wipes and diaper creams. What makes it special is that the back of the Dipe N Go has a Velcro strip that you use to attach the changing pad to the side wall of your vehicle hatch. When you un-snap the changing pad, it folds out and creates a changing table inside of the vehicle. The pockets are then on the wall of the vehicle and are easy to reach when you need your diaper changing supplies.
I like that the changing pad itself is a good size. There's plenty of space to get the diaper change done for most babies without risking a direct hit to the floor of your vehicle. I also love that you can just un-Velcro the whole thing and throw it in the washing machine if it gets gross. Dipe N Go also wipes clean easily.
You do have to be organized enough to remember to re-stock your Dipe N Go. For me, having my diaper bag in the house and checking before I go anywhere is what keeps a fresh supply of diapers on hand. It was easy for me to forget to put stuff back in the car because it was less visible. The pockets are really made for disposable diapers, too, so those of you who use cloth for your babies may want to have a little bag to throw in the back of the car with a spare diaper. Trying to stuff an AIO in the Dipe N Go pocket made the whole thing a little bulky.
Before you buy a Dipe N Go, you'll also want to consider your trunk/hatch situation in your vehicle. Does your hatch have a flat area where it's easy to change diapers? Some minivans have a deeper, trunk-like space in the hatch. My crossover hatch is that way. I can fold seats down to create a flat area where Dipe N Go works perfectly, but I'm currently carrying around enough kids that it's not practical to have those seats folded most of the time. You should also consider whether or not the back of your vehicle is usually clear enough to change a diaper back there without unloading three strollers, a tee-ball bag, two folding chairs and a case of bottled water. Not that I know that part from experience.
Weather might also play a role in when you can use Dipe N Go. It's great for spring and fall trips to the zoo, or summer family vacations. If you're in a place that gets lots of cold weather and snow, though, you'll probably just want to brave the indoor restrooms for that part of the year, so you don't literally freeze baby's hind end off.
Dipe N Go is a well-made product and will work very well for some parents with the right type of vehicle. It can help you avoid some of the gross public restrooms and provides a nice storage space so your changing essentials are neatly contained.
