Jog Stroller Credited With Saving Baby's Life
Monday July 18, 2005
One mom likely feels little regret over spending more than $600 on the popular Mountain Buggy Urban Double jogging stroller after that pricey but sturdy stroller saved her baby's life, according to CNN.com. 7-month-old Abby Lurensky was enjoying a ride down an NYC sidewalk with her nanny when a supermarket demolition spilled debris onto the sidewalk, trapping Abby and her nanny. CNN reports that the baby's rugged Mountain Buggy Urban Double jog stroller "folded around her like a cocoon" that Abby "might have died if not for the protection of her stroller." This is the second recent media spotlight on Mountain Buggy jogging strollers. A recall of more than 2,000 Mountain Buggy jog strollers was announced late last week.

Good grief–and I thought my paranoid fantasies about being crushed by strange objects while out strolling were groundless! Reminds of the time that my Bob stroller rolled away while I was chatting with a neighbor. It finally crashed and toppled over in the gutter, and I screamed as I sprinted the ten feet to it, only to find my little boy, 11 months old, still strapped in his harness and smiling up at me.
