About 96,000 Jeep Liberty three-wheel strollers from Kolcraft are recalled because the tire inner tube can rupture and cause the wheel rim to break and fly off, which poses a risk of injury or property damage. CPSC and Kolcraft have received 39 reports of inner tube ruptures and wheel fractures. Two of the reports included property damage, while 18 reports included cuts, bruises, and scrapes to the head, face, arms, legs or stomach. Two incidents involved injuries to children.
Jeep Liberty strollers included in the recall have model numbers JL031, JL032, JL034, JL035 or JL036, and were manufactured between June 2010 and September 2011. The strollers have a black and silver metal frame, and came in several different fabric color combinations. the side of the stroller and the front tray say "Jeep." The front tray has a red toy steering wheel on a yellow base.
If you own one of these recalled strollers, you should stop using it immediately and contact Kolcraft at 800-453-7673 or kolcraft.com to receive replacement wheels.
If your stroller's wheels have a gray triangle on the rim by the valve stem, they are not included in the recall. If you already have this wheel style, or your stroller is recalled and you receive new wheels, you should only use a bicycle tire pump to inflate the tires to 30 psi maximum. Do not use a gas station air pump to inflate the tires.
