More than 95,000 water expanding toys sold in the U.S. and Canada are recalled because, if ingested, they can expand inside a child's body and cause blockage. These toys are intended for children who are at least 3 years old, but because they're small and colorful, the toys may catch a younger child's eye if they're left out by an older sibling or play mate. An 8-month-old girl suffered an intestinal blockage after she swallowed a Water Balz toy. The toy had to be surgically removed.
The toys were sold in packages of six, and are marble-sized. When placed in water, the toys grow up to 400 times the initial size. The following Dunecraft toys are included in the recall:
