© 2010, CPSC.gov.If you own a Nap Nanny Generation One, Generation Two or Chill infant recliner, CPSC wants to be sure you know that the product poses "substantial risk of injury or death to infants." The agency is suing the manufacturer, Baby Matters LLC, and is asking a court to require the company to notify the public of defects in the Nap Nanny design, instructions and warnings and to offer consumers a full refund.
CPSC has received four reports of infants who died while using the Nap Nanny Generation Two recliner. Another report involved a baby who died while using the Nap Nanny Chill model. Over 70 other incidents of children nearly falling out of the Nap Nanny have been reported.
In July 2010, CPSC issued a recall that required new warnings and instructions for Generation Two models, as well as a coupon for Generation One owners toward the purchase of a new model. At that time, only one infant death had been reported.
CPSC has not issued a new recall at this time. If you own a Nap Nanny recliner, be aware that most of the children who fell out or nearly fell out of the product were using the harness. CPSC alleges that the Nap Nanny products pose a significant danger to babies.
