Safety 1st Cabinet Locks Recalled

About 900,000 Safety 1st Push n Snap cabinet locks are recalled because they may not keep kids out of cabinets. Some kids can disengage the locks, which would allow access to cabinet contents. This poses a risk of injury due to dangerous products in the cabinets.

The manufacturer has received 200 reports of locks that didn't secure the cabinet. Among those were 140 reports of children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years who disengaged the locks. In three of the reports, children swallowed or handled dish detergent, oven cleaner or window cleaner.

Safety 1st Push n Snap cabinet locks with model numbers 48391 and 48442 are included in the recall. These locks were manufactured between Jan. 2004 and Nov. 2010. The manufacture date is embossed on the back of the lock.

Call 866-762-3212 to receive replacement locks. In the meantime, you should stop using the recalled locks and move any dangerous products from those cabinets out of the reach of children.
