I am not one to finish my holiday shopping months in advance. There's something cozy to me about bundling up to hit the after-Thanksgiving sales and coming home, utterly exhausted, to enjoy some leftover turkey. It's nearly 70 degrees outside where I live now, so I'm having a hard time convincing myself that the holidays are just around the corner! If you're gearing up to shop for the holidays, too, here are some great gift ideas for the babies and toddlers in your life. From baby's first Christmas to fun family gifts, the About.com Parenting & Family Channel has plenty of holiday inspiration to get you started.

A great item that I just recieved are a pair of mitten clips from Baby Majors. If you haven’t seen these they are a must for any mother that lives in cold weather. My sister in Chicago sent these to me, but I cannot find them here in Minnesota. Have you ever heard of this company before?

…and don’t forget the gift of reading. My personal preference when it comes to gifts ( whether buying for someone or recommending) are books. Books -
last longer, can be used to educate and entertain, can be passed on, don’t break or run out of batteries, don’t get outgrown or become ’so last season’…. and are just a great way of saying you value reading. Introduce a child to books early on and with a little encouragement and regular reading together watch them get hooked for life!
