LaJobi Recalls 4,900 Drop-Side Cribs

LaJobi Inc. has issued recalls for three of its drop-side crib models, one sold at Babies R Us under the Babi Italia brand and two sold in specialty stores under the Bonavita brand.

About 2,000 Bonavita Cabana drop-side cribs are recalled because the wooden crib slats can break or detach, posing a risk of entrapment or strangulation. Only Cabana cribs with metal mattress supports, made between 1-1-06 and 10-31-08 are recalled. The date codes are on a label on the inside bottom rail of the headboard or footboard. If your baby's crib is included in this recall, call 866-688-9009 for replacement crib rails.

About 2,900 Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson drop-side cribs are recalled because the lower spring pins on the headboard and footboard can pop out of their tracks, allowing the drop side to detach from the crib. This could create a gap that poses a suffocation or entrapment hazard, or could allow a child to fall from the crib. Only Pinehurst and Hudson cribs with metal mattress supports and date codes from 12-06 to 8-07 are recalled. The date code is on a label on the headboard or footboard.
