Some Recalled Simplicity Bassinets Include Graco and Winnie the Pooh Brands
The CPSC warning about some Simplicity bassinets that prompted several retailers to issue their own voluntary bassinet recall has been updated to make sure parents know that some of the Simplicity bassinets were branded with the Graco logo or Winnie the Pooh motifs. The Simplicity bassinets with the Graco logo were sold between 2001 and 2004. The Simplicity bassinets with the Winnie the Pooh theme were sold between 2002 and 2008.
The recalled Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 Close Sleeper bassinets have an adjustable Velcro flap that covers metal bars where an infant can become entrapped if the bars are exposed. Two infants died after being trapped in the bars. If your bassinet is affected by this recall, please note that this recall doesn't work like ordinary recalls since the manufacturer did not work with CPSC to issue the recall. Retail stores have agreed to handle the recall, and the list of stores has expanded since the initial voluntary recall was announced. Please visit CPSC's website for a list of retailers who offer store credit or refunds for recalled Simplicity bassinets. Some 900,000 bassinets are included in this recall.
