Keeping Your Baby Safe on the Road
Monday May 26, 2008
I'm a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, which means it's hard for me to think about kids and cars without immediately thinking about safety issues. As your family prepares for a road trip this summer, I hope you'll be planning lots of fun and memories, but I also hope you'll keep in mind that vehicle crashes are still a huge risk of injury or even death for babies and toddlers. The good news is that kids who are properly restrained for their age and size in a car seat, booster or seat belt are incredibly likely to escape even severe crashes with relatively few injuries. So before you head out on your family's road trip, I urge you to take a second look at the way your kids (and you!) are buckled up. A safer road trip decreases the likelihood of injuries, and that means more time for family fun!
