Maryland Updates Child Passenger Safety Law
Tuesday May 20, 2008
The State of Maryland recently expanded its existing car seat and booster seat laws to include older children. Beginning June 30, 2008, Maryland children will be required to ride in a car seat or booster seat until their 8th birthday, unless they weigh at least 65 pounds or are at least 4'9" tall. The car seat or booster seat should be appropriate for the child's age, weight and height. Maryland still requires that children under age 16 wear a seatbelt once they are beyond the booster seat stage.
