Baby Cold Medicine Recall
Thursday October 11, 2007
Several popular infant cold medicines have been voluntarily recalled by the manufacturers because of a possible risk of overdose and general concerns about the products' safety and effectiveness. Many pediatricians and medical experts have called for such a recall because they say the data used to come up with dosing was based on the medicine's effects on adults, which is different than the effects for babies. Many doctors feel that there is no proven benefit to these medicines for babies under age 2, and that the risks outweigh the benefits of using them.
