Kolcraft Recalls 425,000 Play Yard Models

Thursday September 27, 2007
The strangulation death of a 10-month-old boy has prompted the recall of more than 400,000 Kolcraft play yards, including some character-theme models and Jeep-branded models. Twelve play yard models are affected by the recall. The restraint strap for the changing table attachment forms a loop beneath the changing table, so children in the play yard can become trapped or strangled by the loop. Some of the Kolcraft play yard models also have a cradle attachment with an additional hazard - infants can roll to the side and become trapped, posing a suffocation risk. You can use the links below for more information and pictures of the recalled products.

This is a shocking # of recalls. When is it going to end? I fear that this is just teh tip of the iceberg as we get into the holiday season there’s going to be alot more.

I get auotmatic email alerts when there’s a new recall from www.leadtoyrecalls.com

Doesn'’t anyone see a problem with this? Why should the company suffer when it was CLEARLY the parents fault? There are warnings on every baby item you can buy warning parents about this and that…it is time that we start THINKING for ourselves again and quit blaming our mistakes on the companies manufacturing the products. In my opinion, this is a way for the family to clear their mind that it wasn'’t their fault. It is an absolute shame what America is coming too…

I wanted to post a omment about how stupid I believe a parent is to leave thier child unattended in a bumbo on a high level. I totally agree with the comment by kari 110%. If the parents read the labels and would use a little common sense they would know that when they’re not around put the bumbo on the floor. I use that thing all the time and I have never come close to having an accident happen. and if I did I certainley wouldn’t blame my mistake on the company that made the product.
