Fisher Price, Mattel Issue New Lead Paint Recalls

Wednesday September 5, 2007
The huge number of recalls involving lead paint has many parents wondering which toys are safe for their kids. With Mattel recalling 675,000 Barbie accessories and almost 100,000 Fisher Price-branded GeoTrax locomotives and Bongo Band toys recently, the outlook for toy boxes across the country seems bleak. These companies are the ones parents have trusted for decades to manufacture safe, fun toys. Retailers are even starting to wonder how this will affect their ability to stock toys for the upcoming holiday season, as well as how it will affect parents' gift choices this year.

What do you think about the large number of lead paint-related toy recalls lately? Share your opinions by clicking the comments box below.

It’s really shocking how many lead recalls there are that you never even hear about. I found a site that tracks all of them and sends me emails whenever there are new ones.

It’s time for the US to get serious about inferior toys being imported. We need to protect our children.
