Baby Products Poll: Are You Throwing Away Baby Bottles?
Wednesday August 29, 2007
After recent reports that some types of plastic baby bottles may leach chemicals that cause harm to lab animals, many parents are concerned enough about possible affects to their babies that they're throwing away some brands of baby bottles. Other parents are less concerned, saying that some researchers, along with the plastics manufacturers and industry groups, maintain that the bottles are perfectly safe for babies to use.

I’m not throwing away my bottles, but I do think it is a concern.
I’m using the Avent Naturally bottles to supplement my 6 week old and after reading up on the issue and visiting the Avent site, I decided to just follow the advice from the manufacturer.
I will replace the used bottles with new ones once they are 3 months old or become scratched or cloudy. I think doing this will limit the baby’s exposure to chemicals. I really like the Avent Naturally form and want to stick with that style. I’m also not using the bag inserts that are available because I’d prefer to limit the amount of trash I produce.
