Important Peanut Butter Recall

Wednesday February 14, 2007
Is peanut butter a baby product? Probably not in any official sense, but most parents of toddlers feed their kids peanut butter at some point. My own daughter went through a time where that was all she wanted. The FDA recently issued a warning about Great Value and Peter Pan peanut butter, saying that some lots of these brands could be contaminated with Salmonella. Only jars with lot numbers starting with 2111 are affected. The lot number can be found on the lid.

For more information about this recall and why Salmonella exposure is particularly dangerous for children, take a look at Pediatrics Guide Vince Iannelli's recent article about the peanut butter recall.
