Hot Baby Products: Hip Clips Hair Accessories

Wednesday September 20, 2006
If you're frustrated by hair bows and bands that fall out of your baby's hair in less than 5 minutes, you are not alone. One work-at-home mom is solving this problem with an incredibly cute but functional line of hair accessories that contain a special gripper strip to keep that bow exactly where you want it. Hip Clips Boutique has traditional ribbon bows in many colors, as well as a garden collection with adorable ribbon bug designs and even an option for you to have custom bows made to match your baby's favorite outfit. Holiday hair clips are available, too. Heat-treated ribbon ends mean baby's hair clips will continue to look great for a long time, even through some chewing and tossing, courtesy of your baby.

The Hip Clips are Cute, BUT safety must be our first concern. Question - can a child choke on this? Are they flammable? No thanks!!! Not worth the risk. My daughter is cute enough without the ‘extra adornments’.

Good point that hair accessories can be a choking hazard. That’s a risk that all parents need to evaluate on their own and decide whether they’d like to use them. Remember that older toddlers may not put everything in their mouths as some infants do, and a parent who knows their child is the best one to make that decision.

Also, please note that comments containing personal attacks or unfounded claims against product manufacturers will be deleted. Multiple disparaging posts from the same ISP are not necessary to get a point across, when a polite statement of your opinion would do just fine. Thanks!

These bows are adorable and stay put. Her work is just fantastic and creative. I’m telling all my friends about these bows and they have fallen in love too.

To the poster concerned about choking. Any small product could be risky for kids. There is no need to single out this woman when there are hundreds of bows (though less cute) that are on the market. If your child is prone to putting small things in her mouth, then as with anything else, take precautions.

I love Hip Clips! I make Bows and similar Clips but her’s always make my Jaw Drop! So from one that knows, LOVE IT!

PS: They aren’t flammable, Plus they are aren’t all that small, I couldn’t even get one in my mouth, so a Baby sure couldn’t! :)
