Booster Seat Safety Tip - Maximum Harness Weights
Tuesday January 3, 2006
Combination booster seats allow parents to use a car seat as both a forward-facing harnessed car seat and as a belt-positioning booster seat. However, the package labelling on some combination booster seats may lead parents to believe that the internal harness can be used to the maximum weight of the booster, for example 30-100 pounds. Most of these internal harnesses are designed to be taken out when the child reaches about 40 pounds, but many parents miss the instructions or labels directing them to remove the harnesses. Is your child at risk?
